Ukraine and Gaza: Parallels of Madness

President Trump’s historic meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin this week has re-sparked the conversation about the lingering Ukraine war with Russia. Russia has made significant advances further into Ukraine as hope for full territorial integrity of Ukraine being restored are now little more than a dream. The Russians, as in many past conflicts, have no issue with spending as many human lives as possible to reach their goal.

Skeptical Americans on both sides of the political spectrum are critical of the US’s continued involvement funding foreign conflicts and sending aid in the form of money and arms to Ukraine and Israel, which has cost taxpayers tens of billions over the last several years.

Trump’s meeting with Putin seems to have further entrenched the unchanging Russian stance over the last several months - with the ball now firmly in Zelensky’s and the European’s hands according to Trump, who seems to have accepted that he cannot force terms upon his own allies.

Meanwhile, the famine and mass death of civilians in Gaza continues with little hope of an end in sight without a change in policy from the US standpoint. In a disturbing parallel, Netanyahu indicated he would also be annexing Gaza if Hamas did not agree to a ceasefire. Israel seems willing to do whatever is necessary to further their interests with little regard for the cost of Palestinian life. The zeitgeist has shifted - with major changes in support for Israel from the US populace on the left and right.

With foreign conflicts continuing, and even escalating, many Americans feel betrayed by President Trump’s former promises for peace. The webs of the military industrial complex seem to be woven too tightly for even unsuspicious minds not to believe there is fowl play afoot with the continued funding of foreign wars. With the Epstein controversy in lieu - Trump faces an unprecedented lack of support from his own base that could spell trouble in the upcoming primary elections.

As for Gaza and Ukraine, little more than prayer for world leaders to do what is right will help resolve these horrific conflicts. Some of the most sacred historical and religious sites are at stake, and more importantly the lives of many more innocent bystanders.
